You’ll come across many so-called ‘experts’ in Marketing who think they have all the answers. They tell you that you need to spend a lot of money with them and then tell you something that’s pretty obvious anyway.

I prefer to think different and I’m always on the look out for something that makes me stop; something to make me smile and think “that’s a good idea”. My local Fish & Chip shop in the little village of Brandesburton has this effect on me.

Not only are they known for frying great fish, having friendly staff and serving fantastic fresh cooked food, they’re also pretty clued up on giving the customer a little extra. It’s a simple idea but one that I’m sure pays dividends. Have a look at the photo below.

What a fantastic idea! You buy it once but then refills are FREE.

It costs little and provides you with a good reason to return (not that you really need one to be honest, the food provides that).

It’s all about giving your customer that little bit extra, something that sets you apart from your competitors.

Let’s face it providing something for free is always going to do that.
